What We Do?

Bao by Kaya was founded in 2014 and established itself as a popular street food vendor in NYC. Our specialty is the Taiwanese cuisine and the signature Gua Bao dish. The Gua Bao is a white bun with a fluffy texture that is served with multiple meat options. Served steamy and fresh, Gua Bao is one of the most delicious dishes in the Taiwanese cuisine.

For her efforts to bring such delicious dish to NYC, founder Kaya was nominated for the Vendy Awards as one of the finalists for the Rookie of the Year 2015. It is significant to mention that the Vendy Awards are considered to be the equivalent of Oscars for street food.

We are highly honored to be made part of such a prestigious platform. It motivates us to bring even better taste to our customers. Continuing on our success, we have also become regular food vendors for the Urban Space, Winter Village in Bryant Part, Governor Island and Hestor Fair.

Our Story

No business can be established without true determination, dedication and passion. Bao by Kaya is the result of the passion of two individuals who have worked in the BIG four audit firms in New York. One of the founders started this business in 2014 and eventually, both quit their actual jobs in 2016. This gave them more time to spare for bringing Bao by Kaya to new levels of success and compete with the best food stands around the city.

The inspiration for Bao by Kaya comes from the parents of the two founders. The parents had opened up a couple of dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong in the 1990s. This inspiration developed a deep passion for Asian food in the founders and they have applied it to its full potential to make Bao by Kaya possible.
